The Moora Country Campout is a three day festival held every year in Moora. The main event is the Saturday night concert featuring Australia's best country and rock artists. A number of exciting activities have been added to support the concert, involving the whole town, making the event an enticing three day festival.
A free family concert is held on the Good Friday at Apex Park featuring local Western Australian talent. On the Saturday (April 7), a street festival and ute competition is held, followed by the concert in the evening, which this year featured Shannon Noll, Felicity Urquhart, The YeeHaa Boys and The Ultimate Slim Dusty Tribute Show.
The airlines caused us a few dramas with bands and equipment being stuck in Sydney due to baggage handler strikes, but the ever accommodating Ultimate Slim Dusty Tribute Band entertained crowds for about 5 sets instead of their scheduled 2 to cover the time. Felicity Urquhart and The YeeHaa Boys still managed to squeeze in about 50 minutes each on stage while the rain started to come down on the ever anxious crowd. When Shannon Noll finally got up on stage and opened with his hit song ‘Lift’, the weather gave a well deserved break and the rain let up during his entire fantastic performance.
So apart from the rain (which started and poured through the whole load out) and the bands gear not being on the plane, it all went really well and everyone is looking forward to a bigger and better show next year.
